Cedarwood Essential Oil Profile: Cedarwoods are evergreens native to Africa. Cedarwood was one of the first fragrant plants used by the Egyptians as an ingredient to perfumes, cosmetics and the mummification process. Native American Indians burned cedar for purification rituals. Today Cedarwood is commonly used in cosmetics, fragrances and household products. The oil is extracted from the wood of the tree.

Physical Uses: Cedarwood essential oil is known for its healing properties. As an antiseptic and astringent, it will relieve many types of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rashes, oily skin and acne. In addition, it is known to treat upper respiratory and urinary tract infections.

Aromatic Uses: The woodsy background to cedarwood aromatherapy oil promotes spirituality, balance and a sense of tranquility. It will relieve anxiety and nervous tension and restore mental clarity.

  • Promote Sensuality: Place 5-10 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil in an aromatherapy lamp in the bedroom as a natural aphrodisiac.
  • Morning bath to stimulate circulation and encourage release of toxins: Mix 2 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil, 2 drops of Sandalwood Essential Oil, and 2 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil in your bath water. As an alternative mix with 1 cup of pure distilled water and use in an atomizer to spritz on oneself.
  • Relieve rashes and various skin conditions: Add 3 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil and 2 drops of Lavender Essential Oil to ¼ cups of warm water. Soak a soft washcloth in the water, wring it out and apply it to the affected area. Avoid eyes. Reapply as necessary.
