Myrrh Essential Oil Profile: Myrrh’s history is very vast. It was very common to use in perfumes, incenses, cosmetics and even embalming formulas. It was traded as a commodity along the ancient trade routes and was considered very valuable. It was believed Myrrh as well as Frankincense and gold was given as a gift at the birth of Jesus. Egyptians used it for its healing powers, and Greeks soldiers carried it in their combat gear for its highly antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is now used in many religious rituals and for its healing and uplifting properties.

Physical Uses: Because of its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, myrrh essential oil is used to treat arthritis, gum inflammations, wounds and bronchial congestion to loosen mucus. Myrrh Essential Oil is particularly helpful for skin conditions, such as healing rough, chapped skin, firms tissues reducing the appearance of wrinkles, and alleviating eczema, fungal infections and athletes foot.

  • For Inner Peace and Serenity: Mix 3 drops Myrrh Essential Oil, 2 drops Benzoin Essential Oil, and 1 drop Sandalwood Essential Oil in a diffuser or aromatherapy lamp. Deeply inhale. The blend will soothe the nerves and creates a deep feeling of serenity. It will also clear the mind while stimulating and relaxing the body.
  • Deep Meditation: Mix 3 drops Myrrh Essential Oil and 3 drops Frankincense Essential Oil in a diffuser prior to meditating. As part of the meditation ritual, find a quiet dark place you find sacred. The blend will create a perfect atmosphere for protection, peace and reflection. Deeply inhale and let go.
  • Athletes Foot: Mix 8 drops of Myrrh Essential Oil in 3 tablespoons of pure distilled water and 1 teaspoon of vinegar in a spray bottle. After showering, spray your feet (especially between the toes). Shake well before use.
