Neroli Essential Oil Profile: Neroli Essential Oil is obtained from the delicate white blossoms of the bitter orange tree. The history of the name of the oil is controversial. Some say, it is named after the Italian Princess Anne-Marie of Nerola, who ordered that the oil be imported into Italy so that it could be made into a perfume. Others say that it was named after the Roman Emperor Nero. In any event the name is royal. The white blossoms were thought to bring good luck, happiness and fertility to brides and used in bridal bouquets. Today, it is still extensively used in the perfume industry.

Physical Uses: Neroli essential oil has healing properties for dry and sensitive skin since it stimulates the growth of new cells. It has antiseptic and antispasmodic effects and has thought to strengthen the heart. It also has properties for healing tension headaches.

Aromatic Uses: The bright floral fregrance of neroli aromatherapy oil will help relieve depression and anxiety. On the other hand, it is also known as a mild sedative and is used to encourage sleep and soothe the digestive tract.

Neroli Essential Oil Recipes:
  • For Depression: Mix 2 drops Neroli Essential Oil with 4 drops Bergamot Essential Oil in a diffuser or aromatherapy lamp. Neroli is one of the strongest stress relieving oils to relieve depression, physical tension, and anxiety. The mix will bring balance to the mind, body and soul.
  • Self Acknowledgement: Mix 3 drops Neroli Essential Oil and 3 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil in a diffuser or aromatherapy lamp. The blend will instill a feeling of self worth, spark confidence and calm emotions such as jealousy, frustration and anger.
  • For Tension Headaches: Warm 1 drop Neroli Essential Oil in the palm of your hand. Inhale its vapors to release the antispasmodic effect for relief of the tension headache.
  • For Tensed Muscles: Mix 3 drops Neroli Essential Oil, 2 drops Lavender Essential Oil and 2 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil with ½ cup cold pressed sunflower oil. Massage gently into tense muscles to relax and alleviate tension on overworked muscles.
