Patchouli Essential Oil Profile: Patchouli is a member of the mint family, however the aroma that is commonly associated with it is musty, exotic, spicy and sweet all at the same time. Patchouli is prized and commonly used in the perfume industry since it has an aphrodisiac quality. It is also traditionally used in rituals, hence the abundance of patchouli in incenses.

Physical Uses: Patchouli essential oil is believed to kill fungus, and is used widely in skin-care, massage oils, creams and foot rubs.

Aromatic Uses: Patchouli aromatherapy oil has a wide range of aromatic uses which can be either stimulating or calming depending upon the quantity of oil used, as well as other oils blended with patchouli.

Patchouli Essential Oil Recipes:
  • For Exotic Dreams: Mix 5 drops of Patchouli Essential Oil, 4 drops Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil, and 4 drops Lavender Essential Oil in a diffuser at bedtime. The exotic aroma will stimulate the dreaming brain and open the door to sweet and exotic visions.
  • Spirit Reviving: Mix 5 drops Patchouli Essential Oil, 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil, 10 drops Bergamot Essential Oil, 2 drops Rose Absolute Essential Oil in a 1 oz. glass bottle. When needed, add the blend to a warm bath. Alternatively place a few drops of the blend in the palm of your hand and comb fingers through your hair.
  • Grounding: Create a massage oil by blending 5 drops of Patchouli Essential Oil with 2 teaspoons of sunflower oil to keep you centered, focused and grounded. For optimum results, massage blend into the souls of your feet to keep them “planted” on the ground.
